Future Acts
A 'Future Act' is a proposed activity that might affect Country such as mining, exploration, fishing, tourism or other developments. Western Australia’s resource boom has resulted in high volumes of Future Act work on Yamatji and Marlpa Country. A registered native title claim has a number of rights under the
Native Title Act 1993 and the
Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972. This includes the right to be consulted about development decisions on Country.
